What is an electric bicycle?
What is an electric bicycle?
The electric bike is a bike with pedal assistance. These electrically assisted bicycles provide support to a speed of 25 km per hour. In addition, you will have to pedal yourself. For these e-bikes, you do not need additional insurance.
What about the battery?
The battery determines the range of the electric bicycle. How far you reach with a full battery charge depends on the battery technology used and the maximum battery capacity measured in Wh. The type of battery also affects the battery lifetime. This lifetime is measured in number of charges.
Types of batteries
Li-Ion (Lithium Ion) batteries have an advantage compared to nickel metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries with respect to delivering more power with a battery of the same size. In addition there will be less self-discharge of the Li-Ion battery. Therefore VANDOR only uses Lithium Ion batteries in its bicycles.
Engine in the front or the rear
Most electric bikes sold work with a front or rear-wheel drive. Most bicycles have front wheel drive in a detachable battery under the rear carrier. The bikes with electric motor in the rear wheel are often equipped with a battery in the frame. VANDOR has both front and rear driven e-bikes in its range.
Which type of structure you choose is highly dependent on your preference for one of the two battery systems. Batteries that are placed under the rear carrier are easily detachable and therefore chargeable anywhere (the bike does not need to stand next to the outlet). Because these batteries are relatively light, you can easily carry a spare copy if you want to continue cycling.
The disadvantage of the engine in the front wheel steering that feels less natural, it seems a delay in sending to perform what is due to the heavy weight of the engine in the front wheel. Moreover, there is a third kind of system whereby drive is mounted directly on the pedals. This type of drive you will, with relatively few electric bicycles in the Netherlands.
Range
The range depends on the capacity of the battery, the weight of the driver (and the bike itself) the amount of wind and the landscape which is cycled. Most of VANDOR bicycles will give a range between 40 and 100 km.
Maintenance of electric bicycle
The big advantage of the bicycle as a means of transport is the low maintenance. Of course you should pay attention to your tire pressure and the chain must be lubricated regularly. This also goes for an electric bike. It is only slightly more complicated because an engine is installed and because the bike is powered by a large battery.
Both parts can break, which increases the sensitivity for maintenance. But this risk should certainly not be exaggerated. Modern electric bikes cause very few problems. If you give your VANDOR electric bicycle a warm dry place and if you charge the battery properly, your VANDOR electric bike will give you years of pleasure.
E-bike & Mobility
The electric bicycle is increasingly becoming part of our everyday transportation.
The electric bicycle offers the ability to efficiently and comfortably relatively large distances. In case of short to medium distances, the electric bike offers a great alternative to the car and will therefore have a key role in urban mobility.
The number of electric bicycles sold in Europe in recent years has grown incredibly from 784,000 units sold in 2009 to an expected 1,700,000 units in 2012. Now the electric bike is being discovered by the commuter, this is a good way to get more people out of the car and on the bike.
Warranty
VANDOR offers a warranty in accordance with the requirements 1999/44EC regarding the sale of consumer goods.
The warranty on parts and bikes Vandor is 2 years, including the lithium-ion battery. However, after the first 6 months of the warranty expired, the customer must prove that the fault corresponds to a manufacturing defect.
The loss of battery capacity as a result of its use cannot be considered as a manufacturing defect.
The warranty does not cover wearing parts of the electric bike (such as tires, chain, brakes, cables ...)
VANDOR is not responsible for the following situations and in case of occurring this will void the warranty:
- Tampering.
- Repair by non-authorized service centers.
- No proof of purchase available.
- The expiry of the warranty.
Carrying out warranty repairs will only occur when you are able to hand over the purchase invoice and the frame number of your bike. In the manual of your VANDOR bike VANDOR it is stated where you can find the frame number.
